Ravenmark: SOE – First Audio Preview!

Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion Preview 1

Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion Preview 2

So, after a few months being completely silent (unless you were at MAGFest or watched videos from my panel), I have been given the opportunity to show some Ravenmark music.  Ravenmark is likely going to be the most epic iPhone/iPad saga yet, with a story that easily rivals that of large platform RPGs and RTS-types.  The team over at Witching Hour is also looking into getting voice actors, and I’m sure these guys will get it right.

I don’t want to say too much about the music, so I’ll just let it speak for itself.  Suffice it to say, these are two battle type musics, one being more story-driven (but yes, also still a battle of similar theme).

I just downloaded these two mp3s and left them on loop for about an hour while I was browsing.

Once the song builds, there’s no stopping it. It seems to generate a sense of constant anticipation, with all the different instruments weaving in and out. Harder to describe in words, for sure, but I love the execution.

By “anticipation”, I mean the feeling that something is always happening, or about to happen. Almost as if each instrument joining the song is theme music for a new enemy entering the battle. It’s achieved a real feeling of conflict.

Reminds me of all the reasons I love the FFT soundtrack.
