Just scroll down to see the “DAW of the Future” The debate of MAC vs. PC has long been a problem among digital composers. On the one hand, Apple’s MAC OS provides so many usability enhancements over its Windows counterpart that it is easy to see why so many composers would prefer the clean and uniform interface over the often messy and disgruntled Windows experience (although, with the advent of Windows 8 and metro, this may be changing). The other [...]
It was quite the scourge, really. The 40 track (70 minute) soundtrack to the exciting iOS SRPG “Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion” is now available! Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion (Original Soundtrack) by Josh Whelchel
The Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion soundtrack weighs in at exactly 70 minutes of original music, not including unannounced remixes. I’m extremely satisfied with how it turned out and I’m thrilled to be say that it will be available on November 11th, 2011, along with the launch of the game. The soundtrack is available for PRE-ORDER now, which currently costs $3.99. The pre-order comes with 4 tracks which you can listen to online now. Currently, I plan on raising the price [...]
Robot Invader has released their debut game, Wind-up Knight, on the Android (iOS coming soon!). It is receiving some high praise. The soundtrack consists of ten tracks which rely heavily on the harpsichord. The styles are pretty diverse within, featuring a fughetta (short informal fugue), toccata, and even some quirky jazzish stuff. Let me know what you think! “The soundtrack is very medieval sounding with a bit of techno beats thrown in. If more classic/medieval/renaissance music is your thing, you’ll [...]
If all goes to plan, October, November and December should be riddled with soundtrack releases from yours truly. I finished up the soundtrack to Skn3′s Deli Stack about a month ago, and when the game is eventually released – so will the soundtrack. I also provided music for Kyle Pulver and J. Otto Seibold’s Jottobots - you should expect this game and it’s short musical accompaniment to be out soon. The soundtrack to Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion will be released on November [...]
The first ever non-GDC G.A.N.G. Demo Derby is coming up on October 15th, and I’ve been asked to join the insanely talented Wilbert Roget, Dren McDonald and Jeff Essex on a panel to give feedback on a submission of demo reels from across the world. The Game Audio Network Guild (or, GANG) is a great resource for composers, sound designers, and voice over actors to collaborate, share success stories, tips, tricks, and hang out. GANG also offers a lot of [...]
I’m not sure what this is, but… It’s no secret that the fat wide bass sound is like my favorite thing in all of musical history. It Sounds Uber!
Remember that game about sandwiches and deli and apocalypses I spoke of a few weeks ago? Skn3 has posted some music from that game, called Deli Stack. You can learn more about this game in my post Apocalyptic Reunion. The game has no announced release date, but the tentative soundtrack list appears below: 1. The Sourdough Swing (Menu Theme) 2. Parmesan Polka (Easy Mode) 3. Blue Cheese Boogie (Medium Mode) 4. Gouda Groove (Hard Mode) 5. Dubliner Disco (Really Hard [...]
The Light of the Darkness Theme by Josh Whelchel The Light of the Darkness is game being developed by Epifanica, a small indie team hoping to have their project funded. Currently, The Light of the Darkness has raised around $11,000, and is half way to their goal of $22k. If the project is funded, I’ll be scoring the entire soundtrack (woohoo!).
