Josh Whelchel has been called the one of the “youngest talents in the realm of Western Video Game Music” by originalsoundversion.com. With a large handful of independent and commercial scores under his belt, Whelchel continues to pique the interest of developers and listeners alike.
Josh began his commercial career with the release of “The Spirit Engine 2″ in 2009, which was awarded the “#2 Game of the Year” by gametunnel.com. The score was commented as being “simply phenomenal.”
In addition to doing several commercial projects, Whelchel is also responsible for several charity projects, ranging from soundtracks all the way to the Indie Music Cancer Drive which raised over $6,000 for the American Cancer Society in its second year.
Besides working on music for media, Josh studies music composition at the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio, which remains one of the top ranked music conservatories in the nation. There, he focuses on composing electro-acoustic music and studies new techniques.
